The Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova unfolds on 24 and 26 of March, 2009 the Moldovan Turkish workshop within the NATO project SfP: 683287 “Landslide susceptibility assessment in central part of Republic of Moldova “, with the support of the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme. From the Turkish part participates assoc. prof., dr. Murat Ercanoglu the co-director of the project mentioned as well dr. Harun Sonmez assoc. prof., and dr. Levent Tezcan (University of Ankara), other special guests F. Ahmet Temiz (Ministry of Public Work’s and Settlement, General Directorate of Disaster Affairs) and Ozgu Kasmer (Ministry of Public Work’s and Settlement, General Directorate of Technical Research and Implementation).
Moldova is represented by the scientific staff of the laboratories of climatology, dynamic geomorphology, landscape as being academician T. Constantinov, dr. N. Boboc, dr. M. Nedealcov, dr. G. Sîrodoev)from the Institute.
The goal of the project is referred to the data base creation of the behavior ways of landslide, the elaboration of the space models of assessment of territory predisposal of the slide manifestation in the conditions of intensive fragmentation of relief, applying as well the data of teledetection and SIG technology.
At the same time, the project is seeking for the use of the methodical elaboration of Turkish and Moldovan researchers from the field and the concluding of the project with recommendation that will cover towards the reduction of consequences of the slide process development both economical and social. The end user of the project’s results is the Moldova’s Department of the Exceptional Situations, represented at the workshop by the N. Oprea, Col. |
